Galway has been named in the Top 3 Cities in Ireland for growth of start-up companies.
Figures published by CRIF Vision-Net in their 2020 Barometer Annual Review, reveal a growth in Ireland of 5,010 new companies in Q3 2019, bringing the total number of start-ups in Ireland to 17,160.
The top five cities are Dublin (7,127 start-ups, 41.5%), Cork (1,498, 8.7%), Galway (602 start-ups, 3.5%), Limerick (514 start-ups, 3%) and Kildare (489 start-ups, 2.8%) experiencing the highest levels of growth.
Speaking on this increase of start-ups in Galway, Galway Chamber President Dave Hickey said, “Galway Chamber is delighted but not surprised by this news as we have worked very hard with our partners Galway Technology Centre and PorterShed to make Galway a very attractive place for start-ups.
The support GTC and PorterShed provide along with help from the Local Enterprise Office, NUI Galway and GMIT are key differentiators for Galway.”
