Galway Chamber welcomes the announcement of the date of 18th February 2020 for the Oral hearings, on the Galway City Ring Road.
JP Gilmartin, Deputy President of Galway Chamber said, “This proposed and much awaited piece of infrastructure will be of critical importance to the region and while it alone will not solve Galway’s traffic problems, its development will drastically improve mobility around the city and serve as a key enabler of Galway City’s Transport Plans”.
Kenny Deery CEO of Galway Chamber said, “Irrespective of your position on the development, the fact that the oral hearings are now progressing, will at least provide the forum to articulate your position”.
Galway Chamber, through their campaign ‘Get Galway Moving’, are of the view it is the combination of the Galway Transport Strategy and the Galway City Ring Road that will be required to help solve our traffic challenges.
The Chamber are strongly supporting the Galway City Ring Road development and the implementation of the Galway Transport Strategy. Their campaign of support for both projects will take many forms, but will focus on the real-life stories of how people are presently impacted by congestion and parallels that with a vision for the future once both projects are executed.
