President of Galway Chamber Frank Greene this morning welcomed the announcement by US data security company, Ipswitch that it has decided to locate its European, Middle Eastern, and African headquarters in Galway.
‘This is great news for Galway and the Region’, he said.
‘The decision by Ipswitch, which develops easy to try, buy and use IT Monitoring and Security software, to locate here highlights once again the potential of Galway and this region to attract companies based on our talented local workforce and strong supportive environment for business.
‘I’m particularly pleased that Ipswitch will make their Galway base in the Galway Technology Centre, a subsidiary company of Galway Chamber. They will join a community of over 40 companies based in the GTC and I wish them every success.
‘I would like to commend the work of all those involved in the Ipswitch decision to choose Galway and look forward to their input as part of our technology hub.
‘I also welcome their announcement of 60 jobs over the next five years which again underpins Galway’s development as a major technology hub, particularly around internet and collaborative working technologies.
The ongoing work to increase Galway’s innovation capacity will be further strengthened with the opening of the PorterShed Innovation Centre in the city in four week’s time.
‘This is a good day for Galway, a great decision by Ipswitch and bodes well for our continued growth as an attractive option for companies looking to locate in Ireland’, the Chamber President concluded.
