Through membership of Galway Chamber, business people become part of a business network that they can use to support and promote their business. Members are listed on the Chamber's Membership Listing in our annual diary and are invited to participate in Networking Events, Business Lunches, Breakfast Briefings, Seminars and Conferences. These events are both informative and an excellent networking opportunity. As well as the networking events, Galway Chamber also hosts two Golf Outings: the Annual Golf Classic and the Presidents Prize Golf Outing. Galway Chamber's social event of the year is the Annual Chamber Ball and Business Awards. This years Guest Speaker was Minister for Finance, Mr. Brian Cowen T.D. Lobbying, Influencing the Future of the City and Region In 2001 Galway Chamber produced a policy document entitled "Galway 2010 @ the Leading Edge", which details its vision of the future of Galway to 2010. It sets out the potential demographic and economic situation in Galway and outlines the key tasks that need to be undertaken to ensure that Galway continues to be the leading location for business, investment and people. By becoming a member of the Chamber, business people have the opportunity, in the interests of business and the profitability of their own companies, to influence the future of the City and Region. Galway Chamber lobbies and represents its members on the main issues facing the city and region. These include issues of access (road, rail, air), energy, crime control, broadband etc. By being a member, each company strengthens the Chamber's lobbying power in these and other issues. Galway Chamber lobbies at a local, regional and national level. At a national level we are joined by Chambers Ireland who represent us on the Business Pillar in partnership negotiations with Government. Access to Business Information Whether a business requires a listing of businesses in the locality, trade information on companies throughout Europe, or some assistance with European Legislation etc., the Euro Info Centre in Galway Chamber can help. Galway Chamber Euro Info Centre has been established by the European Commission to provide information, assistance and advice on European topics to local businesses. Galway Chamber published a Member Diary annually which contains useful local data and contact names including a full Classified Membership Listing, a Directory including contact details for local authorities, Government departments and Representatives, voluntary organisations, Social and Cultural groups, Sporting Fixtures etc. We mail our members each month with our monthly newsletter, which synopsises all of the relevant business news from Galway and information on forthcoming events. To view previous issues of the Chamber Newsletter, select from the following: April 2008 We send monthly correspondence to our member companies including booking forms for upcoming events. Members may also avail of this service to include information of their own at at very competitive rate. This service is exclusive to members only and is an excellent means by which members can reach the desks of decision makers throughout the city and region. Galway Chamber is an authorised agency for Certificates of Origin - EU and Arab Irish.
